That's a great opportunity Nicole. I would say not to worry too much about being rude (within reason of course). People who volunteer to host a foreign exchange student understand that there are going to be cultural differences and are more likely to instruct you than to be offended. With that said, keep reading and learn all you can and impress your hosts with your knowledge of French culture!

Wow!

I'm glad I checked this site, I'm going to France in march and I'm going to stay with a French family - I'm glad that I know these things now - it seems a bit strange to me as an Australian but I don't want to seem rude in the homestay!
