Isn't it strange how much the two words resemble one another? French idioms are a lot of fun though once you get a decent repertoire to use.

I am an idiot, not an idiom. I hope that doesn't matter too much.

The best way to translate avoir le vent en poupe is to say that the wheels are in motion. . .but more so it tends to refer to a person such as: Elle a le vent en poupe. (Meaning she has everything going for her; all the cir...stances are going right and she'll be successful.)

There are a lot more idiomatic expressions in our French Phrases category. Try Funny French Phrases for some more idiomatic expressions.

I would like more idioms. But would like a translation of the English term, to be on a roll. Other than avoir le vent en poupe.

Thank you
